Briken Calja wins bronze medal at European Weightlifting Championships

Briken Calja gave to Albania a bronze medal at the European Weightlifting Championships, held in Split, Croatia.

The 27-year-old close the competition in jerk stile lifting 175 kg in the second tentative, holding thus the third place.

In the latest test, Calja tried to lift 178 kg, but failed in his attempt. In this style, the gold medal was won by Frenchman Matam, while the silver was won by Robert Joakim.

The result would be even more positive for Briken Caljen if he had not failed in snatch style, when he attempted from the begining to lift 145 kg, but the Albanian athlete was unable to lift the weight in any of the three attempts, so he was not classified nor in this style either in biathlon.

Even in biathlon the gold medal went to Frenchman Matam with 320 kg. In second place is ranked the Russian Oleg Chen with 319 kg, while the bronze medal went for the Germany, Joachim with 317 kg./Oculus News
