"This center joins the Cyber Security Military Unit, another major project for defense in the digital world, with a key role in combating cyber threats and protecting our information systems, established thanks to the support of the United States. Through the new Security and Defense Innovation Center, among other objectives, national capacities in the field of security and defense will be strengthened through the implementation of innovative projects and the integration of advanced technologies, as well as the promotion of the development of an innovation ecosystem in security and defense," stated Prime Minister Rama during the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday.

Today, Prime Minister Rama visited the new facilities of the Center, together with Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi and senior officials of the Armed Forces, and later participated in its inauguration ceremony.

Meanwhile, on the same Wednesday, Russia reacted through the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, accusing NATO and the European Union of expanding their cyber centers oriented towards attacks against Russia. According to her, a similar center is being opened in Albania, claiming that the mission of the center will be "to create a negative image of Russia." Zakharova warned that "in this way, another source of hybrid threats is being created in the Balkans," stating that this is a region with significant political problems.

Furthermore, Russia has started fabricating a justification to threaten Albania. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, during a conference in Moscow, accused NATO and the European Union of expanding their cyber centers oriented towards attacks against Russia.

According to her, a similar center was established in 2017 in Helsinki, Finland, which Russian military personnel claim operates in military, political, diplomatic, economic, informational, medical, and other spheres to damage the positive image of Russia. Zakharova further accused NATO of dangerous war maneuvers.

"Currently, in relations with Russia, the bloc has returned to the mindset of the Cold War. In its doctrine documents, the country has been declared, I quote 'the greatest direct threat.' There is an active buildup of troops in the eastern direction. Unprecedented military exercises. They are preparing for war against Russia and not even hiding it," she added.

Among other things, she stated that NATO has no place in the new multipolar world and remains in Russia's optics.
