Kosovo and the US signed an agreement on extradition

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga and US Ambassador, Greg Delawie, have signed anextradition agreement between Kosovo and the United States.

The agreement, according to President Jahjaga, will ensure that criminals are brought to justice.

"With this agreement signed by Kosovo and the US, in addition to strengthen the partnership and the determination in favor of law and order, two states ensure that criminals who pose a threat to the safety and security of the citizens of our countries will be pursued and brought to justice" Jahjaga said.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Delawie has described this agreement as a historic one saying that Kosovo and US are commited to not become havens for criminals. According to him, this agreement enhances the credibility of Kosovo as a state.

"The agreement will contribute to regional security. It is a mechanism to increase the international credibility of Kosovo. This also increases the credibility in fighting corruption issues," said Delawie.

The agreement provides the establishment of professional skills of prosecutors and judges in order to be more efficient in the prosecution and trial of criminals, so he promised that US will spend about 12 million dollars on this issue.
