Hoffman: Foreign investors do not trust the justice system in Albania

Foreign investors do not trust the justice system in Albania
German Ambassador in Tirana, Helmuth Hoffman, from the city of Berat expressed his concerns that foreign business, especially the German one, is facing various difficulties, especially in the field of concessions.

"The central theme in this context would be the legal state. Investors have here their activities, and will have to have confidence in the justice system, in order when they have a problem to approach the court to have confidence that will have the right decision, because time to time happens that German businesses have problems between German firms and state structures, directed or advised to approach the court. For example, it is a matter of interpretation of contracts of concession and in this context should have faith. In fact, this is not helping many German companies here, because court procedures lasts to much and there is a luck of faith,"said Ambassador Hoffman.

German Ambassador inspected investments being carried out by the government of his country in the cities of Berat and Kucova. Initially, Hoffman attended a Euro 65 million project aimed at rehabilitation of water supply as well as the replacement of pipeline that will supply 130 thousand inhabitants of this area. The Ambassador stressed during the meeting of a company that exports medicinal plants that the standard of life is raised through investments, so that they do not migrate or seek asylum. Ambassador reiterated this message in the village Gorica when visited the farm of Gëzim Kuqi, composed by 2.5 hectares of fruit trees.
