At parliamentary group meeting today, Chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, said that the left wing's work on the candidate status now is very simple: only to take it.
Basha also said that the government Meta-Rama found everything ready and they should open negotiations for EU accession.
"We have continued without interruption lobbying for obtaining candidate status, in our conviction that Albanians deserve their status according to what has been done and achieved over the last years and that does not stand down from the countries that received the status. We believe that internal democratic agenda is crucial to opening negotiations. We appeal for accelerating this direction. The government has only to take the status, but now is Rama-Meta's duty to meet the criteria to open the negotiations, this is what they should do," Basha said.
He said also that the role of the opposition has been the right one and has shown that Albania deserves status.
