Serbia's border police banned today the entry into its territory without explaining the advisor for the Region of the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The philosopher and art critic from Kosovo Shkëlzen Maliqi was banned from entering Serbia at the border crossing point in Merdare.

Serbia's border police did not provide information or reason for their actions.

Maliqi was traveling with the playwright and director of the Multimedia Center Jeton Neziraj and the editor and photographer of Kosovo 2.0, Besa Luci and Majlinda Hoxha.

They planned to attend a discussion on the occasion of the publication of “20 Vjet Përtej/Preko/Beyond”, which summarizes a chronology of 20 years of cultural co-operation between cultural actors from both countries.

After Maliq's detention, all the members of the group also decided to return to Pristina.

Maliqi told to media that Serbia is taking retaliatory measures for Kosovo officials. He says that also the team refused to enter to the Serbian territory as a sign of revolt because of his ban.

Shkëlzen Maliqi is a political analyst, art critic and philosopher. He was born in 1947 and lives in Prishtina. Maliqi has run a number of organizations, including the Institute of Social Studies, "Gani Bobi".
