At just 13 years old, Ndoja fled Albania during the turmoil of the 1997 Albanian unrest, after a stray bullet wounded his sister. Like many Albanians at the time, his family sought safety in Italy, embarking on a difficult journey filled with uncertainty. His early years abroad were marked by life as an undocumented migrant, including arrests and instability.

A turning point came when a local priest offered him the opportunity to play basketball, opening the door to a new future. Ndoja began developing his talent in Desio before eventually reaching top-level Italian basketball with Virtus Bologna, one of the most prestigious clubs in the country.

During his career, he achieved multiple successes, including league titles and domestic cups, and even served as team captain—an extraordinary feat for someone who arrived in Italy under such challenging circumstances. His journey reflects not only personal determination but also the broader story of Albanian migration in the Balkans.

Despite his achievements, Ndoja has remained grounded, often emphasizing that his primary goal was to secure a better life for his family.
