Albanian Football Federation Strengthens Child Protection Through “Safe and Secure Children in Sport 2.0” Project

The Albanian Football Federation (FSHF) has reaffirmed its commitment to creating a safer and more inclusive sporting environment by continuing its active involvement in the “Safe and Secure Children in Sport 2.0” project.

 Representatives from sports federations and child protection institutions gathered at the Albanian Football Federation headquarters for the first meeting of the Technical Advisory Board under the “Safe and Secure Children in Sport 2.0” project.

As part of the initiative, the first meeting of the Technical Advisory Board of Professionals was held at the headquarters of the Albanian Football Federation. The newly established board brings together representatives from the Albanian Football Federation, the Albanian Basketball Federation, the State Agency for Children's Rights and Protection, the Child Protection Unit of the Municipality of Tirana, under the coordination of Terre des Hommes Albania.

During the meeting, participants outlined the role of the Technical Advisory Board and discussed its contribution to the implementation of the two-year project. They also exchanged recommendations on the preliminary topics for a specialized training curriculum designed for child protection professionals, ensuring it reflects the realities of sport in Albania and strengthens child safeguarding mechanisms.

The “Safe and Secure Children in Sport 2.0” project aims to enhance cooperation between sports organizations and public institutions responsible for child protection. Its primary objective is to prevent and effectively address all forms of violence, abuse, and neglect that may occur in sporting environments while promoting a culture of safety and respect for young athletes.

The Albanian Football Federation emphasized that protecting children remains one of its highest priorities. By implementing internationally recognized safeguarding standards, the federation seeks to ensure that every child involved in football can develop in a secure, supportive, and positive environment over the coming years.
