Albania’s anti-government protests have entered their 58th consecutive day, as citizens continue demonstrations in Tirana demanding political change and the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
During the latest protest, hundreds of citizens gathered first near the Parliament and later marched toward the Prime Minister’s Office, where they continued their rally with slogans including “Rama ik!” (Rama leave!) and “Dorëheqje!” (Resign!).
The demonstrations have also fueled political speculation about possible internal tensions within the ruling Socialist Party (PS). Some media reports and political commentators have claimed that disagreements exist inside the government, while alleging that certain figures within the party may have interests that conflict with Prime Minister Rama’s leadership. These claims have not been officially confirmed.
Attention has also focused on former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, who is currently under investigation by SPAK over allegations related to corruption, money laundering, and public procurement procedures. Supporters and critics of different political camps have exchanged accusations over whether internal rivalries within the Socialist Party have influenced recent political developments.
The protests began as a broader expression of dissatisfaction with the government and have continued daily, with organizers saying they will maintain pressure until their demands are addressed.
Meanwhile, the political confrontation has expanded beyond the traditional government-opposition divide, as many protesters have also criticized the wider political establishment, including opposition figures.
