Students from the Polytechnic University began marching towards the Faculty of History and Philology, where they entered lecture halls chanting slogans including “Boycott classes” and “Join us.”
The march then continued towards the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Foreign Languages. Calls to join the movement were also made at the University of Arts, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
During the demonstrations, students also chanted slogans targeting political leaders and the government, including “Rama in prison, Berisha in prison,” “Rama, resign,” “The students have arrived” and “Down with the patronazhistët,” referring to the controversial political term used in Albania for individuals accused of gathering information on citizens and mobilising political support.
Meanwhile, classes at the University of Medicine were reportedly continuing as normal, indicating that the call for a boycott had not been followed across all university institutions.
Another gathering has been announced for Monday in front of the Ministry of Education, where students are expected to continue their protest campaign on its 21st day.
The latest marches mark another effort by the students to bring the protest into university campuses and persuade more young people to take part in the movement.
