Albanian Alphabet Day Concert to Bring Together Artists and Diaspora in Germany on November 22

A festive concert celebrating Albanian Alphabet Day will take place on November 22, 2026, in Oberhausen, Germany, bringing together well-known Albanian performers and members of the Albanian diaspora for an evening dedicated to music, language and cultural heritage.

The event will be held at the Luise-Albertz-Halle in Oberhausen, starting at 6:00 p.m., as part of Westbalkantage NRW 2026. Its aim is to promote Albanian culture, language and traditions among communities living abroad.

The evening's musical programme will feature the popular group Elita 5 & Friends, alongside performers Mustafa Imeri, Miranda Hashani, and Jenona Shaqiri & Band. They are expected to provide a varied programme and a festive atmosphere for the Albanian community and other visitors.

According to albinfo.ch, the concert is dedicated to Albanian Alphabet Day, celebrated every year on November 22 in memory of the Congress of Manastir in 1908. The historic congress played a decisive role in the standardisation of the Albanian alphabet and remains one of the most important milestones in the history of the Albanian language and national identity.

One of the organisers, Afrim Farizi, said the event aims to bring members of the Albanian community together for a shared celebration while highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting the Albanian language, culture and national heritage among diaspora communities.

Through music and cultural celebration, the Oberhausen concert will offer Albanians living in Germany an opportunity to mark an important date in their national history together.
