Two vehicles were completely destroyed in an early morning fire in the Karposh neighborhood of Skopje, raising concerns among local residents near the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy.
The incident occurred around 5:00 AM on April 26, 2026, at an intersection close to the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy. According to initial reports, the fire spread rapidly, engulfing both vehicles within minutes and leaving behind heavily damaged remains.
Witnesses described a disturbing scene, with thick smoke and high flames rising into the air, creating panic and a sense of insecurity during the early hours of the morning. The strong smell of burning materials lingered across the area, adding to residents’ concerns.
Police and firefighting teams quickly arrived at the scene and managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading further. Thanks to their swift response, no injuries were reported, although the material damage was significant.
After the fire was extinguished, the area was left covered with charred debris, melted plastic, and black ash scattered around the site. Residents expressed unease over the incident, calling for stronger preventive measures and increased safety controls in the neighborhood.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine whether the incident was accidental or the result of deliberate arson.
