The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, along with Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, have released a joint statement regarding the recent parliamentary elections in Albania.

The declaration also pointed out certain irregularities, emphasizing that political parties did not compete on a level playing field. This imbalance, they suggested, undermines the principles of fairness and equal opportunity that are fundamental to democratic elections.
In their closing remarks, High Representative Kallas and Commissioner Kos reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to closely monitor the electoral developments in Albania. They stated that the EU will continue to follow the process until the final certification of the election results is completed.
