The contract was signed today in the field of defense and security for monitoring with advanced technology throughout the territory of the Republic of Albania between the National Civil Defense Agency and the "Satellogic USA Inc."

According to the Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi, the two satellites "Albania 1" and "Albania 2" will cost the Albanian state 6 million dollars for a duration of three years. Through satellites, it will be possible to obtain information to stop criminal acts, illegal constructions, plots with cannabis, etc.

"This contract consists of the exclusive use of two satellites, for a period of three years, for the monitoring of the territory of the Republic of Albania, the development of the technical and professional capacities of the Republic of Albania for the use of the satellite service, the processing of Geospatial Information (GIS), as well as providing imaging products and other components thereof. The network of irrigation and drainage canals will be monitored in order to analyze the affected surface. Monitoring of water resources, for the purposes of assessing the amount of water. By installing artificial intelligence, extraordinary information emerges. A great deal of work has been done in the legal framework. We have an agency that will be involved in the dispatch of all the images that will be needed", said Peleshi.

"For all those who laughed at us, today I can say that we will have an inspectorate in the sky, which has no party, no cousins, no special name, but an eye that sees everything. With satellites, there will be no possibility to build floors without permission without being noticed from the moment they start. This will no longer depend on inspectors or policemen who sometimes have no eyes at all to see if a nearby building adds two floors because money closes their eyes", declared Prime Minister Rama.

In relation to the satellite service plan, DP MP Jorida Tabaku also reacted. According to her, signing the agreement is a cynical excuse.

"ER has promised satellites to verify illegal constructions. It's amazing how we need 150 km above the ground to see something that is easily distinguishable in the middle of Tirana. Cynical justification for the tender worth €5.7 million at this time, when it demands sacrifices and wastes their taxes!"
