Kosovo imposes tampon certificate or quarantine for Albanians, removes the € 22 customs tariff on truck disinfection

 Albania has declared the opening of land borders from today with all neighboring countries, including Kosovo where the rest of the Albanian nation lives. More than once, Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that the movement between Albania and Kosovo will be free.

But today, while the Albanian side has allowed the passage of citizens from Kosovo, starting from 01:00 pm the Kosovar side based in an order of the Ministry of Transport has banned the entry of Albanian citizens in Kosovo. Kosovo authorities have requested a certificate for the tampon carried out in the last 4 days by Albanian citizens, while trucks must pay 17-22 euros to disinfect vehicles.

While Prime Minister Edi Rama considered strange this decision. The Kosovo government decided to suspend this tax after political and business reactions. "The contract for disinfection of trucks coming to the Republic of Kosovo is suspended. Disinfection of trucks was foreseen within the measures to combat COVID-19 pandemics." Kosovo's Interior Ministry announced.
