Tensions in recent months at the border have prompted Greece's Defense Ministry to prepare for three possible scenarios of a sudden military attack by Turkey.

Greek media report that the Ministry of Defense has taken into account an immediate deterioration of relations between the two countries and a military attack by Turkey in three areas.

The first area, considered the place where the attack is most likely, is that of the Evros River, the part where Greece and Turkey are bordered by land.

The second area where the Greeks expect an attack from Turkey is in the Aegean Sea, exactly on the territory between the islands of Crete and Rhodes.

The third area is that of the south-eastern Mediterranean, in which Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Egypt and most recently Libya are fighting for underground gas wealth.

Protothema reports that all three options have been part of the discussion of the last meeting of the National Security Council.
