Starting May 5, 2025, Kosovo citizens will be able to travel to Israel without a visa, marking a significant milestone in the strengthening of diplomatic and travel relations between the two countries. The announcement was made by the Israeli Ambassador to Kosovo, Tammy Ziv.
Under this new visa-free regime, Kosovo citizens who hold valid passports and are traveling to Israel for tourism purposes will be included in Israel’s list of visa-exempt countries. However, travelers must apply for an electronic travel authorization at least 72 hours before their arrival in Israel. The duration of stay will be limited to a maximum of 90 days.
This agreement is the result of a bilateral deal signed between Kosovo and Israel in June 2024, allowing reciprocal visa-free travel for citizens of both countries. In addition to facilitating travel, the deal reflects ongoing diplomatic cooperation. Notably, Israel officially recognized Kosovo's independence in 2021, after Kosovo opened its embassy in Jerusalem—a move that sparked international debate due to the city’s contested status.
The announcement also comes on the heels of another major development for Kosovo travelers: since January 1, 2024, Kosovo citizens can travel visa-free to the Schengen Area for up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
These developments represent a growing openness for Kosovo on the global stage and a significant improvement in international mobility for its citizens.
