Over 72 million euros of criminal assets seized in less than 10 months: Albanian Chief Police Ardi Veliu says

 Director-General of State Police Ardi Veliu, in a preliminary balance of Police work since the beginning of this year, has seized 72m euros assets by the criminals, or nearly double compared to a year ago, when while we are still in mid-October.

"It is worth noting the seizure of a total of 72.1m euros of movable property, or not, bank accounts and cash proceeds from criminal activity of persons and criminal groups or 41.8m euros than in 2018," he said.

In his speech at the graduation ceremony of the new State Police officers, Veliu listed some of the top priorities that the State Police has focused on this year.

“During this year the State Police has been maximally engaged in meeting the top priorities in the fight against organized crime, preventing and hitting criminal activity, increasing security parameters, increasing standards of border control and surveillance, as well as preventing and crackdown on cross-border crime.”

As for the war on crime, the head of the blue uniforms counted at least 32 criminal groups hit in less than 10 months, as well as 275 police operations in co-operation with citizens and partners and the international law enforcement agency.

“32 criminal groups have been hit, 21 of which with criminal activity in the field of narcotics. 275 police operations have taken place, 62 of which in cooperation with partners and the international law enforcement agency, 175 operations due to the cooperation and trust of citizens. There are 1446 wanted persons or 2.6% more than in January-September 2018,” said Veliu.
