Bulgaria and Slovakia confirm their support for EU enlargement

Bulgaria and Slovakia are the biggest proponents of EU enlargement, Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva said after meeting with Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak. They express deep concern that the Council of Europe postponed the adoption of the decision to open negotiations with the Republic of North Macedonia and Albania this time.

Bulgaria is one of the most preferred destinations by Slovak tourists, Minister Lajcak said. We are close partners in the European agenda, coordinate our efforts to shape the future EU budget and are convinced that cohesion policy should be one of the pillars of the future budget, he commented. The two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding in international development for cooperation.
