 Italian Ambassador to Tirana Alberto Cutillio has stated from Gjirokastra at a local government meeting with UN representatives that resolving the political crisis in Albania, this is a key objective for a country seeking to join the European Union. Cutillio said that Albania has met certain conditions and the negotiations should be opened as soon as possible.

“I take this opportunity to invite all the political parties to sit down at the table to solve those common problems that have begun with the electoral reform. As for the opening of the negotiations, Albania has been meeting the conditions for some time now and I do not understand why these conditions were set.

We think that the negotiations should be opened as soon as possible. I also want to say that opening the negotiations does not mean that you are part of the EU, but simply opening a path that Albania must follow. I commend Albania for taking this step towards this path. It's a path that requires a lot of commitment and requires the political parties to come together towards a common mission,” Cutillio said..
