Hashim Thaci urges the Vatican to recognize Kosovo's independence

 

 Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has asked to the Holy See to recognize Kosovo's independence. The request was made during a meeting with the Secretary of State for the Holy See, Pietro Parolin, as part of the proceedings of the United Nations General Assembly. The head of the Kosovar state said that the formal recognition of Kosovo by the Holy See would crown all its commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the Western Balkans and Europe.

“The people of Kosovo have always been guided by the values ​​of St. Teresa, values ​​of tolerance, peace and coexistence. We are grateful for the support that the Holy See has given to the people of Kosovo. All that is left is the recognition by the Vatican, ”Thaci said.

President Thaçi briefed Parolin on religious harmony in Kosovo, on the coexistence between communities, the values ​​on which the state of Kosovo was built. On the other hand, the Secretary of State for the Holy See, Pietro Parolin, said that the Holy See is committed to peace, tolerance, and stability in Kosovo.
