Marijuana toward Greece, 61 arrested including 14 Albanians
 

 In Albania the police announced today the strike of a criminal group suspected of carrying out drug trafficking toward Greece. At least 14 Albanians are arrested, including the Saranda Hospital's deputy director.

The operation, which was extended to seven cities in the country is held in cooperation with the Athens Anti-Drugs sector.

The investigations for this network, as the General Director of Albanian Police Ardi Veliu explained, had begun 10 months ago. During this time, the group suffered a series of strikes during which its members were arrested in Albania (4 cases) and in Greece (11 cases). The members of this network used the land border between the two countries to transport marijuana from the South of Albania to Greece, where the main destination has been Athens.

Since the start of the investigation there are 61 arrested individuals, including both Greeks, Romanians and a Russian citizen. The drugs seized during various operations goes to over 1 ton of cannabis sativa and over 1 kilogram of heroin and cocaine.
