May not be known as other countries, but this beautiful country in southern Europe deserves to be recognized as one of the destinations that should not be missed for 2019.

This is what writes in her article published in the Australian magazine Who, the independent travel journalist, Amy Mills, who has worked in newspapers and magazines in Australia and the United Kingdom for the last 18 years.

Closely accessible to Greece and Croatia, Albania has exceptional mountain landscapes, clean beaches and fortified cities without crowds.

The small village of Ksamil, along the southern Albanian coast near Saranda and Corfu, has some of the most spectacular beaches in Europe, an abundance of fresh fish and is located in short distance from two different UNESCO heritage sites: Butrint and Gjirokastra.

"Albania remains a destination where you can walk through beautiful mountain landscapes, stay in small and lifelike villages and explore the vibrant capital of Tirana for less than any other country in Europe," said Lonely Planet in its section of Best Travels for 2019.

In addition to Albania, Mills also lists Greece, Italy and Croatia.
