6 officials and businessmen arrested in Albania for corruption

 The Former General Director of Roads for the period 2008-2013 Andy Toma and his successor Dhashamir Xhika, who stayed in office until September last year, and left the office after the party that appointed him, the SMI, went to the opposition, is arrested for allegedly abusing with the funds for the construction of Elbasan-Gjinar road. 

For the same issue, are arrested Rexhep Tarba (works supervisor), along with three others, administrators of two construction companies, Agron and Kujtim Hysa of "Vëllezërit Hysa" company and Rezarta Bokçiu of "Arifi" company, which is left in house arrest. Five other persons are being pursued in a free state.

The procedures for the construction of this road started in 2009, but has shown numerous problems with soil slides and damages. According to the prosecution, "from the investigations conducted, resulted that these citizens, according to the duties and functions they had have committed unlawful acts, which resulted in the misuse of public funds amounting to about ALL 5 billion, given by the state budget for the realization of "Paving, Asphalting the 'Gjinari' Road", but the object is not realized."
