Albania Protests Day 70: Protesters March Through Tirana to Prime Minister’s Office Demanding Edi Rama’s Resignation

 The citizen march has officially begun from "Skënderbej" (Skanderbeg) Square toward the Prime Minister's Office, marking the 70th consecutive day of protests against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Protesters have stepped onto "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard, chanting anti-government slogans along their route. "Rama, resign!" ("Rama, jep dorëheqjen!") remains one of the primary demands echoing through the crowd as they move toward the seat of government.

Demonstrators are expected to gather in front of the Prime Minister's Office to push forward with their protest and advocate for systemic political and institutional reforms.

Today's demonstration marks day 70 of this civic movement. According to the organizers, the resistance initially sparked as a local reaction against a proposed resort development in Zvërnec, but has since expanded into a wider political movement with direct demands for governance reform.

Participants are demanding deep political and structural overhauls, including the departure of what they describe as the "old political class". As the days have progressed, the movement's primary focus has remained unwavering: the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and a fundamental shift away from the current governance model. All eyes are now on the march proceeding down the main boulevard toward the Prime Minister's Office as day 70 unfolds.
