73-Year-Old Arrested Over Krujë Wildfire as Flames Threaten Residential Areas

 A 73-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fire that broke out in the “Abazë” neighborhood of Krujë, Albania, before spreading toward the mountain and threatening nearby residential areas.

 A massive wildfire lights up the night sky near Mount Krujë, Albania, following a fire started by a 73-year-old resident trying to burn grass, which prompted partial evacuations.

According to the Albanian Police, the suspect, identified by the initials Q. B., a resident of the “Abazë” neighborhood, allegedly started the fire on August 8 near his home while attempting to burn grass.

Police said that strong winds caused the flames to quickly spread out of control, pushing the fire toward Mount Krujë and creating a serious threat to homes and surrounding areas.

As a precautionary measure, authorities carried out a partial evacuation of residents living close to the fire.

Fire Continues to Threaten Krujë

Despite the intervention of ground firefighting crews and aerial support, the situation reportedly remains critical, with flames continuing to spread.

Residents in the affected area have repeatedly appealed for additional emergency resources, warning that the fire is moving closer to populated areas.

The incident has raised renewed concerns over the dangers of deliberately burning vegetation during periods of strong winds and high fire risk.

Police have referred the procedural materials to the Prosecution Office for further action against the 73-year-old.

He is suspected of the criminal offense of “Destruction of Property by Fire.”

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as firefighting efforts remain focused on preventing the flames from reaching residential areas.
