A tragic road accident on Sunday in Durrës, Albania, left two children dead and another seriously injured after a vehicle struck them in the city’s District No. 15.
According to preliminary information from local authorities, the incident took place in the former Këneta area of Durrës, where three young children were reportedly sitting near the roadside when a Mercedes-Benz vehicle veered toward them and hit them. Emergency responders and police units arrived at the scene shortly after the crash.
Officials confirmed that two of the children died as a result of their injuries, while the third victim, an 8-year-old child, was transported in critical condition to hospital for urgent medical treatment. The identities of the victims have not yet been officially released as authorities continue notifying family members.
Investigators say the driver abandoned the vehicle immediately after the collision and fled the scene, triggering an active search operation. Police have launched a full investigation to identify and locate the suspect, while forensic teams work to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
The incident has sparked public concern over road safety and accountability, particularly in residential areas where children are often present near traffic zones. Authorities are expected to release further updates as the investigation continues.
