Vivian Eisen shared the video on social media, revealing how two individuals approached the synagogue building during the night. According to the footage, the suspects jumped over a fence, moved toward the entrance, and used a flammable substance before igniting a fire.

In a public statement accompanying the video, Eisen described the act as “a deeply troubling antisemitic incident” and noted that it is the first such case reported in North Macedonia since 1945. She emphasized that the attack strikes at the core values of coexistence upheld by the Jewish community in the country.

The ambassador also expressed solidarity with the Jewish community and called on authorities to act swiftly to identify and prosecute those responsible. The release of the footage appears aimed at assisting the investigation and raising public awareness about the severity of the incident.
Local authorities have confirmed the attempted arson and stated that measures are being taken to fully investigate the case. The incident has sparked concern both domestically and internationally, given the historical sensitivity surrounding antisemitic acts in the region.

The attempted attack highlights broader security concerns and the need for vigilance in protecting religious institutions. While no injuries have been reported, the symbolic nature of targeting a synagogue has intensified reactions and calls for accountability.

As investigations continue, attention remains focused on whether authorities will be able to identify the suspects captured in the footage and ensure justice is served in a case that has drawn widespread attention.
