The event, held during the Easter holiday in Fishta e Lezhës, brought together more than 400 competitors from across the country, alongside international tourists exploring the Balkans. Participants competed to determine who had the strongest egg in a tradition deeply tied to Easter symbolism. The gathering also featured traditional Albanian food, music, and a lively atmosphere set in the region’s natural surroundings.

Altin Prenga, the initiator of the event, emphasized that the goal is to preserve cultural heritage while promoting rural tourism in Albania. Over the years, the championship has grown into a key local attraction, reflecting a broader trend in the Balkans of blending tradition with tourism development.

This year’s winner, Xhuljana Ndoja, described the competition as emotional and unforgettable, highlighting how such activities add vibrancy to traditional holidays. Other attendees noted they came primarily for the festive atmosphere but found the competition an unexpected highlight.

With a €1,000 prize for first place and additional awards for runners-up, the championship continues to gain popularity each year, reinforcing Fishta’s reputation as a unique cultural destination in the region.
