According to reports, the crash occurred on the A14 motorway near Ancona during the early hours of the morning. The vehicle carrying the Albanian family collided with a heavy truck that had reportedly stopped due to a mechanical issue inside a tunnel.
The victim, a 62-year-old woman of Albanian origin, died at the scene as a result of the violent impact. Emergency services intervened immediately, working to extract the injured passengers from the wreckage. Her husband remains in serious condition in hospital, while her sister is also receiving medical treatment. A minor was among the injured but is reported to be out of life-threatening danger.
Authorities temporarily blocked the motorway as rescue operations and investigations took place. Italian police have launched an inquiry to determine the full circumstances of the accident, including whether visibility, speed, or mechanical failure played a role.
The tragedy has once again highlighted the vulnerability of Albanian families living and traveling across Europe, particularly in Italy, where a large Albanian diaspora resides. Road safety remains a major concern across the Balkans and EU countries, with frequent incidents involving migrant communities.
