Lamallari stated that although he has not yet reviewed the full legal reasoning behind the ruling, the reduced sentence appears disproportionately lenient compared to the gravity of the crime. He emphasized that the killing of Officer Cenalia, a member of the “Shqiponja” police unit, constituted a direct attack not only on an individual but on the state itself and the rule of law.

According to the minister, such decisions risk undermining public trust in justice institutions and may send a troubling signal to those who challenge state authority. He warned that acts of violence against law enforcement must be met with firm judicial responses to ensure accountability and deterrence.

Lamallari also highlighted the broader impact of the ruling, noting that it affects not only the victim’s family but also the morale of police officers who serve daily to maintain order and security. He stressed that leniency in such serious cases could discourage officers and weaken the perception of institutional support.

While reaffirming respect for the independence of the judiciary, the minister called for justice that reflects the seriousness of crimes against state institutions and those who uphold them. He underlined the expectation that the legal system act with strength and responsibility toward both citizens and law enforcement personnel.
