Italian Woman Held and Abused in Albania: 27-Year-Old Arrested in Fier

The suspect, identified by authorities as A.I., was detained during an attempted escape in a rented vehicle, following a coordinated operation between local police forces and Italian security representatives in Albania. According to the police statement, A.I. has a criminal history that includes charges of domestic violence and theft.

The operation, code-named Fast Reaction, was launched after the Security Expert Office at the Italian Embassy in Tirana alerted the Albanian Criminal Police Department. The alert indicated that an Italian citizen was being forcibly held in a residence in the village of Cakran by her partner, who was also physically abusing her.

Special forces from the Fier Local Police Directorate, supported by the Operational Special Forces and Italian diplomatic security officials, quickly mobilized to respond to the situation. The suspect was apprehended just as he attempted to flee the scene.

The Italian woman was safely recovered and handed over to the Italian Consulate in Albania. Authorities confirmed she is in stable health and receiving appropriate care.
