Troshani described the event as deeply emotional, emphasizing the importance of this moment not only for the Catholic faithful but for the entire world. "We now have a powerful new Pope, 69 years old, whom we recognize as the 'Vicar of Christ'," he stated.

According to the Cardinal, the newly elected Pope is the Cardinal of Chicago, who has held significant responsibilities even during Pope Francis's time. His global reputation and leadership within the Church have earned him widespread respect. Notably, he is also the first Pope from the American community, marking a historic moment for the Catholic Church.

"The Pope is Christ’s representative on Earth. We voted to choose a strong new Pope. He is 69 years old and known worldwide. His election is a great joy for all Catholics, because through him, Christ finds a leader, a guide, a symbol of hope, and above all, the strength of the Risen One," Troshani said.

The Albanian Cardinal also expressed his gratitude for Pope Francis’s support for Albanians. Reflecting on a recent encounter, he recalled how warmly Pope Francis had spoken of the Albanian people: "Five months ago, when we were together, he cheered: 'Long live the Albanian people, long live Albania'."

Looking forward, Troshani voiced confidence that Pope Leo XIV will bring much-needed peace to the world. "Pope Leo XIV will bring the peace the world longs for, a peace that reconciles hearts," he concluded.
