Switzerland Releases Preliminary Squad for Euro 2024: Six Albanian-Origin Players Included

 Following Germany, the Netherlands, and France, Switzerland has also unveiled its preliminary squad for the 2024 European Championship in Germany. Coach Murat Yakin has opted for an extended roster, inviting 38 players—12 more than the permissible number for the final tournament squad.

Among the selected players, six are of Albanian origin: Granit Xhaka, Xherdan Shaqiri, Albian Hajdari, Uran Bislimi, Ardon Jashari, and Andi Zeqiri. This significant inclusion highlights the growing influence and presence of Albanian-origin players in European football.


The Swiss Football Federation has announced that the final official squad will be determined and published on June 7. This extended list allows Yakin to assess a broader pool of talent before making the final selection for the prestigious tournament.
