Dritan Abazovic, Montenegro's Prime Minister, made the announcement that the country is starting a space program for the first time in its history.

“I am sure that this information will cause some ridicule, for some it will even be a subject of humor, but it is a serious matter and I am happy to inform you about this,” he said during a Government meeting.

He stated that the "Luca" satellite, which must be launched into space, is currently being developed. We hope that our film "Luca" will be released in 2023 or 2024.

Abazovic spoke with innovators from Montenegro, including Nino Drakulic, Nikola Perovic, and Filip Jovicevich. They were also representatives of the Montenegrin Space Research Organization, which was the one that started the project for the first launch of the Malaysian satellite "Luca."

According to the Prime Minister of Montenegro, the executive wants to encourage young people to create innovative things through the Innovation Fund.

There were also talks that Montenegro would test a satellite in October of last year. Abazovic has been informed of the specifics of this project by representatives of the Space Research Organization of Montenegro.

A grant for the "civic economy" will be used to pay for the project.

“The Innovation Fund will support this project. It is not about big funds, but it requires a lot of work. Montenegro will open new perspectives, participate in various activities with other countries and develop in this direction,” said Abazovic.
