The requests of young Albanians to leave the country have increased a lot recently.

But there are also young people from different countries of the world who have chosen Albania to live in.

Maria is 27 years old, born in Pennsylvania. She has decided to live and work in Albania.

Maria has been coming to Albania for 3 years, where she first settled in Saranda, but this summer she settled in Shkodër, a city she quickly fell in love with.

"I really like Shkodra. Good weather, sun, and temperatures even in winter are not too low, unlike where I come from, which is very cold. The food here is perfect. Prices are not expensive and you can live freely here. People are friendly and helpful. Shkodra is very beautiful", she said.

Maria lives alone in Shkodër in a rented space. The love that the people of Shkodran have for the city impresses him.

"I rented an apartment that was not very expensive. I've learned about the American dream you have here and it doesn't surprise me, but I still love it here. Shkodra is a very beautiful adventure. What impresses me is that the residents are very happy to be from Shkodran, unlike what happened in Saranda where people were gloomy and not proud of their hometown," she said.

He has replaced the lack of society with his passion for photos. He always has her camera with her.

"I work online, I have my own website where I give travel advice. I like the work I do as it is always on the go and I also earn enough to afford to live in Shkodër, but not in America. In the first part of the day, I deal with myself, while in the second part more with work as I am more productive. My passion is photos", said Maria.

The Albanian language is difficult, she says, but she has managed to learn some words. Staying in Albania has its own problems. For Maria, the lack of a residence permit somehow penalizes her.
