Albanian special forces officer in Philadelphia injured during an operation

 A police officer of Albanian descent from the SEPTA Special Forces in Philadelphia was shot and injured during an operation Wednesday night as he tried to secure the protection of another officer during a fire exchange with an armed suspect who was shooting at police forces and resisting for a while. The officer remained injured in the stomach, but out of danger for life.

Ervis Onuzi, 28, had been with SEPTA for three years. It all happened at around 19:00 when a suspect for the gunshot wound of two women on the street, in an attempt to leave, entered a building in the "Renehan House" complex on Leiper Street and started firing at police.

He fired from the second and third floors of the building.

Onuzi, who was placed in the first security circle, was shot at least once in the stomach. He was taken to Temple University Hospital where he underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

The injured women, aged 57 and 42, are also in stable condition in hospital.

Meanwhile, the aggressor, according to the police, was found dead with a self-inflicted wound on the second floor of the building, where a weapon was also found. No one was injured inside the building.
