Bosnia and Herzegovina's Prosecutor's Office says it has indicted nine Bosnian Serbs for killing more than 100 Bosniaks. The killings reportedly took place shortly after the start of the 1992 war in Bosnia.

This indictment is a follow-up to several recent war crimes indictments in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Prosecution said in a statement that nine former members and commanders of the Bosnian Serb army were suspected of being involved in the killing of dozens of women, the elderly, and children between the ages of 2 and 15 in the Serb-dominated southeastern Nevesinje area, Bosnia.

"The mortal remains of 49 people have been found, while 47 victims are still considered missing," the prosecutor's office said in a statement. The suspects were arrested on December 16.

The prosecution said that among the victims are seven families who were killed.

The indictment comes at a time when several war crimes arrests have been made by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Investigation and Defense Agency.

Bosnia declared independence in 1992 which sparked the 1992-95 conflict, in which almost 100,000 people were killed and more than 2 million displaced.
