The Court of Assize, France
An Albanian citizen has been convicted by a French court of hurting his ex-wife by pouring acid on her.

Nexhmedin Dardha was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a court in the city of Assize and then to be deported to Albania at the end of his sentence.

In 2006, Dardha, in the presence of his two daughters, poured an amount of acid on his ex-wife's face, causing second-degree burns on her face and body.

According to the French prosecutor, after the divorce, he showed strong doses of jealousy for the victim.

Dardha in this crime has cooperated with two other Albanians arrested and already convicted. One of them was sentenced to 10 years in prison, while the other 5 at a time when Dardha had returned to Albania to escape punishment. The escape ended in 2019 when he traveled to Italy from where he has been discovered that he was wanted by Interpol and then extradited to France.

During the trial in France, Nexhmedin Dardha told the court that he was innocent of the charge. But one of the accomplices in the crime, testifying before the court, said that Nexhmedini wanted to disguise her wife with the action he took, so that no man could approach her, after the problems that started in 2004 and culminated in divorce in 2006.
