With a video from Vienna, the famous Albanian soprano Elbenita Kajtazi has announced that she has been selected among 15 competitors in this year's edition of "BBC Cardiff Singer of the World" 2021, representing the Republic of Kosovo. "I wish from the bottom of my heart to represent you as well as possible and to leave myself satisfied with this competition", Kajtazi said.

"Dear friends, I can finally share the wonderful news that I could not wait to share with all of you. For the first time in the history of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, I will represent my beloved Kosovo! I wish to appear very well!”, she writes among others.

As the "classical-music" page has announced, Kosovo is competing for the first time in one of the most popular events of operatic music. Kajtazi, the Mitrovica-born soprano, will compete in June in Cardiff, Wales, with competitors from the United States, Britain, South Korea, Venezuela, Georgia, Madagascar, and others.

Elbenita graduated from the University of Prishtina, where she made her debut with the Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra in 2009, singing many concerts throughout the season.

She has won several national and international awards. Most recently, she won first prize at the 2015 Ricardo Zandonai Vocal Competition in Italy, along with two separate awards: an engagement at the Sato Pedro Theater in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and an engagement at the Daegu Opera House in South Korea.

In 2014 she won the first prize "Spiros Argiris" at the Sarzana Festival, Italy. In 2012, she won first prize at the Flag Song Festival and the ARS Kosova 2009 International Music Concert.

She also received a scholarship in the Summer of 2013 to attend the Campo d’Oro Program in New York.
