Over 5 thousand citizens of Kosovo flock to Albania, long queues at the border due to COVID-19 measures

The tightening of anti-Covid restrictive measures in Kosovo has caused many Kosovo citizens to flock to Albania to spend the weekend. This has led to long queues on Friday morning at the Morina border crossing.

Since last night, at 00:00 until today at 11:00, 5 thousand 498 citizens from Kosovo have entered Albania through the border crossing Vërmicë and Morinë. This is what the spokesperson of the Kosovo Police, Bajram Krasniqi, told KosovaPress.

Whereas since Wednesday, even when the new antiCOVID-19 measures entered into force, 1,475 people from Kosovo have entered Albania.

New anti-Covid measures have entered into force in Kosovo on Wednesday, and among the main reasons for the creation of long queues at the border seems to be the fact of the total closure of gastronomy and curfew.

This is also due to the fact that Albania is the only country where Kosovar citizens do not need a negative PCR test to cross the border. Meanwhile, the citizens of Albania do not need a PCR test to enter the territory of Kosovo.
