Kosovo Government allocates 60 million euros for businesses in the framework of the pandemic

The Government of Kosovo allocated about 87 million euros to private businesses, to recover the losses they have suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic, for citizens in need, for some ministries and others.

Of this amount, 60 million euros were allocated to businesses, which will benefit depending on the number of employees they had registered in December 2019.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, at a press conference in Pristina, held after the government meeting.

Hoti said that the allocated funds are within the Fund for Economic Recovery, which amounts to 385 million euros.

In addition to funding for businesses, the government allocated 7.7 million euros for social assistance, 12 million euros for the Ministry of Agriculture, 2.5 million euros for the field of culture, one million for the Ministry of Rural Development, one million for the Office for Communities, one million for the Agency for Gender Equality and one million for public enterprises.

The Government of Kosovo, in July, approved the Draft Law on Economic Recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

It aims, through fiscal and monetary policies, to help businesses that have suffered losses as a result of measures taken to curb the pandemic.

However, this draft law has failed three times in a row to be voted in the Assembly of Kosovo.
