Albania and Kosovo with the lowest level of wages in the region

 Albania is the second country in the region with the lowest level of the minimum wage, leaving behind only Kosovo. According to data from the European Institute of Statistics, the gross minimum wage in Albania is estimated at 213 euros. There are over 320 thousand people or 26% of the total employees who declare in taxes with the minimum wage.

Meanwhile, the country that pays the least employees in the region is Kosovo. The gross minimum wage in this country varies from 130 euros for employees under 35 and 170 euros for those over 35. Meanwhile, according to Eurostat data, in North Macedonia, the gross minimum wage is 282 euros and in Montenegro 331 euros. The highest minimum wage in the region is that of Serbia, 343 euros. 

However, experts are skeptical of the new government scheme, as they say, it aims to offset the decline in social security revenues, with minimum wages in the Balkans significantly lower.
