756 doctors COVID-19 infected in Kosovo, three die

The number of health professionals infected with coronavirus in Kosovo has reached 756.

This was announced by the spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Faik Hoti, in his official profile on the social network Facebook.

Hoti also published a photo of health professionals helping patients with COVID-19 and called on citizens to implement measures to prevent the uncontrolled spread of the epidemic, which in Kosovo has reached alarming proportions.

Three Kosovo doctors who were affected by the coronavirus lost their lives.

State and health authorities warn that hospital capacity is overcrowded by COVID-19 patients.

Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti has said that only 130 beds are available to patients with this virus.

Some wards of regional hospitals have been converted into hospitals for COVID-19. But now they face a shortage of infectologists and support staff to treat those infected with the virus.

According to data from the National Institute of Public Health, which monitors the epidemiological situation, 1,137 people infected with coronavirus have been registered in Kosovo. Of these, 3,874 have recovered and 177 have lost the battle with the virus. According to doctors, most of them had concomitant diseases, but there were also people who had not suffered from other chronic diseases.

Professionals fear that the number of infected in Kosovo may be higher than have been diagnosed because a significant proportion of those infected have no symptoms at all or have mild symptoms.
