Gianni De Biasi says with Albania had the most beautiful sporting emotions of his life

De Biasi while coaching the Albanian National team
Exactly three years ago, on June 14, 2017, Gianni De Biasi said goodbye to the bench of the Albanian national team sanctioning the end of the most beautiful love story that football in Albania has ever known.

An early farewell (initially scheduled for November 2017, at the end of the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign) that surprised everyone and that arrived a few days after the 3-0 victory in Israel:

“My job is done. I stop here because I want to think about the good and the growth of the team. I want to give the new manager time to get to know the team and the players." De Biasi declared in the farewell press conference.

The Veneto coach, in six years (from 2011 to 2017) as Albania's technical commissioner, has written forever the football history of the Country of Eagles. Incredible victories (such as the 1-0 one in Portugal in 2014), the 22nd place in the FIFA ranking and, above all, the qualification for the European championships - after passing a terrible qualifying group that included Portugal, Denmark, and Serbia - in 2016, where Albania even came close to qualifying for the round of 16.

The memory of De Biasi

Indelible memories for all the Albanian people but also for De Biasi himself (who received Albanian citizenship in 2015), who today wanted to remember the anniversary of his farewell to the Albanian National with an exciting post on his Facebook profile:

“Three years ago I decided to leave the Albanian National Team, for me sad and very difficult moment!!! The goal was to allow those who would replace me, to buy time knowing the players. It cost me so much, but like all things in life there is a beginning and an end, a beautiful story that had come to the epilogue! Thank you Albania, thank you President Duka, thanks to all the guys protagonists on the way to a dream, thank you for letting me live the most beautiful sports emotions of my life.
