2 billion euros of public money waste in Albania

 Abuse of public money is still a widespread phenomenon in Albanian state institutions, despite the risk of auditing by the Supreme State Audit (SSA).

This institution has discovered economic damage in the last 5 years in the amount of about 2 billion euros, which comes as a result of various violations.

While Azmi Stringa, former director of SSA, said to A2 the situation is problematic particularly due to the institutions that do not implement the recommendations and the Prosecution that fails to fully address the issues of criminal charges.

According to Stringa, even the institution of SSA itself should get reformed in order to guarantee audit standards and strengthen accountability. .
