Albania will continue to be militarily present in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Latvia

 Albania reconfirms its participation in all missions, where the Armed Forces are engaged. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Albania, Olta Xhaçka, during the Ministerial Defense of 30 NATO member states, gathered for the second time online due to COVID-19. This meeting was scheduled to be held in Tirana, but the pandemic of the last 3 months made it impossible to be organized in our country, one of the most important annual events of the Alliance.

During her speech, the Minister of Defense, Olta Xhaçka, said that “Albania confirms its presence in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Latvia and we are working on a joint mission in Iraq within the Adriatic Charter, led by our country.

Assessment for men and women in uniform, whose contribution is the security for the missions and operations to continue despite the pandemic.

The Defense Minister proposed a special NATO focus on defense and deterrence in the southern wing of the Alliance.

Assessing the crucial role that NATO has in defending the global order, based on common values, the Defense Minister said that a united and solidary alliance is the best response to any NATO geopolitical rival.

At the center of the two-day discussions of the Ministerial are NATO missions and operations, as well as the protection and deterrence of the largest military alliance in the world.

On Thursday, NATO defense ministers will discuss measures being taken for the second phase of pandemics in the allied countries.
