Vjosa Osmani say Serbia is ethnically cleansing the Presevo Valley

The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, through a Facebook post, said that Serbia is carrying out a silent ethnic cleansing against Albanians in Medvedja, Presevo and Bujanovac.

Osmani said that Serbian authorities, in the last four years, have passivated the addresses from the civil registry of over 4,000 Albanians in Medvedja.

According to her, this action has been noticed in two other municipalities composed by the Albanian population, in Bujanovac and Presevo.

"Through the 'passivation of addresses' of residence, the Serbian state makes the final removal of
Albanians from Serbia's civil registry, making it impossible for them to obtain new documents, the right to access medical services or social assistance, and even removes them from the list of voters, which makes it impossible for them to participate in the elections", said Osmani.

She urged Kosovo institutions not to remain silent in the face of these actions by the Serbian state while saying that a state like Serbia, which, according to her, is "actively engaged in ethnic cleansing", does not deserve membership in the European Union.

The issue of inactivating the residential addresses of Albanians in the Presevo Valley was discussed at an extraordinary session of the Assembly of Kosovo in July last year.
