Albin Kurti seeks the opinion of the Venice Commission regarding the Competencies of the President of Kosovo

 The incumbent Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, seeks the opinion of the Venice Commission regarding the powers of the president in the distribution of the assembly and the proposal of the candidate for prime minister, after the motion of no confidence.

In a statement, Kurti's office said that considering the situation in Kosovo, an opinion from the Venice Commission would serve to strengthen democracy and constitutional law.

This is the first time that Kosovo has sent a request for an opinion to the Venice Commission regarding the report of the constitutional institutions and their competencies. On April 30, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci decreed the candidate of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, for the position of future Prime Minister of Kosovo.
