The leader of the NS, an opposition party in Serbia, Vuk Jeremic, has met with officials from the US State Department, as well as congressmen and senators.

In an interview with Voice of America, he said that discussions were held on the forthcoming elections in Serbia to be held on April 26.

Jeremic said that Serbia's current leaders have agreed that Kosovo be admitted to the UN and that this US administration has high expectations that dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade will end after the elections.

“I do not believe that they have high hopes for agreement before the elections in Serbia, but definitely there is hope that something will happen after the elections. Since a senior US official, Richard Grenell, has decided to remain involved in the dialogue, my expectations are for a Pristina-Belgrade agreement to be reached in November. When I spoke to people in Washington, no one denied that." he said.

"It is to my knowledge that there will be an agreement to normalize relations between Belgrade and Pristina, which will contain Kosovo's accession to the UN," he adds.

He also said that the West has agreed on the fact that Serbia will never be a fully democratic state.
